Coaching

WHO ARE YOUR CLIENTS?

My clients are all kinds of working moms and working moms-to-be.

"Working moms" include both part-timers (traditional and job-sharers) and full-timers (traditional and flex-timers) as well as home-based workers (telecommuters, entrepreneurs, and free agents), organization-based workers (in all sectors and career fields), and field-based workers (rovers who move from one temporary office or location to another).

"Working moms-to-be" include expecting-mom workers (first time moms-to-be), re-enterers (moms who are planning to go back to work after focusing exclusively on being moms for any period of time), newly-minted workers (moms who are planning to go to work for the first time), and fence-sitters (moms who are considering going back to work or to work for the first time).

Moms bring to our coaching sessions these kinds of questions:

WHAT IS YOUR BACKGROUND, PHILOSOPHY, AND APPROACH?

My background includes career development services in private practice, higher education, and corporate human resources. I hold a B.A. from Oberlin College, an M.A. in Counseling from Montclair State University, and a Certificate in Adult Career Development and Planning from New York University. I am also a Certified Career Management Coach. My professional association memberships include the American Counseling Association, the National Career Development Association, and the Career Masters Institute.

Interview Yourself for Working Moms: A Guided Journal is my latest book (Careerstyling®, L.L.C., 2002). I am also the author of Job Notes: Interviews (1997) and the co-author of Job Smart: What You Need to Know to Get the Job You Want (1997) and Work Smart: 250 Smart Moves Your Boss Already Knows (1998), all published by Random House/Princeton Review Books. I have been sourced on career issues in several major media, including The Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, Redbook, Shape, Cosmopolitan, Mademoiselle, Glamour, and Teen People. My article, "Five Balance Strategies to Help Working Moms," adapted from Interview Yourself for Working Moms, appears on the The Wall Street Journal's Career Journal site: http://www.careerjournal.com/columnists/perspective/20020805-fmp.html

My philosophy is that my clients are healthy, gifted, and resilient individuals. They may be stuck because they just need a little help focusing on and fulfilling their career dreams. As a career coach who is also a mom, I bring to my clients both my professional experience helping others manage work-life balance issues and my personal experience dealing with these tough challenges.

My coaching approach is compassionate, collaborative and action-oriented. I am committed to:
